Akropolis+YAK is an electro-acoustic, Tibetan throat singing-inspired collaboration. Utilizing YAK's amplified violin/viola da gamba and the electronic drone signal processing, the collaboration brings a new-age sound to an ancient art form. Akropolis utilizes the natural overtone systems of their single and double reed instruments to improvise over a pre-mapped structure. The result is a large-scale, collaboratively composed, one-movement work that takes the audience through a sound universe they've never experienced before. In addition to this collaborative work, Akropolis will perform acoustic and amplified contemporary selections.
