IMAGINE intrepid trekkers from Épices de Cru, traversing the Silk Road, from Nara, the 7th century capital of Japan, via Umruqi, a major Chinese trade hub in the Tang dynasty to Balkh, a 2500 year old city in northern Afghanistan.
IMAGINE them collecting spices along the way and delivering them to Ji Hye- a diligent student of food history and an exemplary chef.
IMAGINE Chef Ji Hye Kim transforming those treasures into a feast, just for YOU.
With some allowance for dramatic hyperbole, that’s pretty much what’s going to happen on April 30, 2018.

-STEAMED BUN with CHINESE FIVE SPICE braised pork belly, cilantro and peanuts
-FRIED VEGETABLES and/or chicken pieces, dusted w/KOREAN CHILI FLAKES and SICHUAN PEPPERCORN
-BLANCHED SUGAR SNAP PEAS w/Zingerman's Five Star BLACK PEPPER Blend and wasabi oil (or another interesting peppercorn)
-Soft poached egg & microgreen SALAD w/salted shrimp dressing, seasoned nori seaweed and SHICHIMI TOGARASHI
-KORYO CARROT SALAD w/CUMIN, CORIANDER
and sesame seeds
-FRESH CILANTRO KIMCHI with KOREAN CHILI FLAKES
