Join us at this coffee tasting event and be one of the first people in the world to taste the amazing coffee Zingerman’s Coffee Company has been working on for over 5 years! We will be joined by Steve Mangigian, Managing Partner of Zingerman’s Coffee Company to taste the coffee grown on Zingerman’s Coffee Company’s very own experimental plot at Daterra Estate in Brazil. We will cup 4 different versions of the coffee harvest–1 honey process, 1 anaerobic process and 2 natural process. All versions will be roasted on the medium side. This coffee is not available anywhere else in the world and it’s not yet for sale.
Daterra Estate is owned by the Pasqual family, successful auto parts and tire distributors turned coffee farmers as a way to give back to the country that gave them so much. Today, Daterra is the 3rd largest farm in Brazil and we are proud to partner with them to cultivate the Pacamara varietal of coffee and bring it to Brazil and to Ann Arbor! Zingerman’s Coffee Company committed to Daterra to a 3-acre plot is on a high, flat plane in the Cerrado region of Brazil near the city of Patrocínio. It is amongst the best coffee producing areas in the country. We’ve been going down at least once a year to check on the status of the program and we hope that this project continues for the next 20 years or more!
