The brainchild of drummer and multi-percussionist Pete Siers, and assembled in 1997, the concept of a small group focused on traditional Afro-Cuban rhythms has positioned Los Gatos as a consistent crowd pleaser. Built from the “old-school” Latin jazz values set forth by Cal Tjader, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente and Joe Cuba, the use of call-and-response vocal coro sections throughout their repertoire lifts the music to new heights of soulfulness and drama.
