The NOTE (Night Owl Transatlantic Ensemble) was formed by violinist Henrik Karapetyan and pianist Melissa Coppola in 2019 with the vision of presenting the violin-piano duo and the general concept of collaboration in a new, modern and dynamic format. While borrowing the format of a Classical Duo, the ensemble is open to and is planning collaborations with other instrumentalists, vocalists as well as incorporating visual art, multimedia and other creative mediums in its performances and projects. At the same time, it aims to revive the concept of “cafe music,” that is, light music performed in cafes and restaurants, often with a hint of Jazz, Gypsy or Latin intonations, accessible to the most. The current repertoire, consisting of light Classical works, semi-improvised arrangements of well-known songs, Tangos, Waltzes, Polkas and new pieces, is aimed to bridge the gap between Western Art Music and more contemporary styles, as well as promote new and innovative works and ideas.
