This 5 course dinner includes dishes like Haejoo Bibimbob, Grilled Calamari with Gochujang, Perilla Soy Milk Noodle Soup, and a soju/soju cocktail pairing specially crafted for this event. Read on for more information!
Korea is not a big country, compared to say, the state of Texas. But it is geographically varied, surrounded on three sides by sea and mountainous ranges in-land. Along with the lack of modern transportation until the beginning of 1900s, it provides the right condition for having distinctive regional cuisines. Chef Ji Hye’s ancestors took what is locally available and developed distinctive styles of Korean food for where they are - and that’s exactly what she has done for Miss Kim, with regional Korean food in Michigan.
We start by exploring The Great North. The dinner will kick off with Chef Ji Hye sharing her personal and culinary knowledge of North Korea. We will explore the region and what role its mountainous geography and proximity to China plays.
