ANDREW BROWN FAMILY BAND
Andrew Brown (of Appleseed Collective) has spent the last 5 years touring nationally from coast to coast, he draws influences from New Orleans jazz, Django Reinhardt, Rock & Roll, Bluegrass, Country, Folk and Blues. Fusing these influences them into his own songwriting and compositions to create a sound that is at once contemporary and also a throwback to an earlier time. For the first time ever he is joined by his father, piano player Doug Brown. Doug was born and raised in Detroit, and has work as a session musician backing up the likes of the Four Tops and Chuck Berry and in 1979 he had a hit R&B record in the Michigan and tristate area. The familial musical influences and songwriting merge to create a sound that spans from early swing to full blown funk dance tunes to experimental jazz. From Ray Charles to Sun Ra, from early swing to psychedelia the project plays their own brand of zombie Americana; the music the refuses to die.
