A singular sound in the vocal world, Kosins exemplifies the intersection of jazz and soul. Her return to Kerrytown Concert House pays homage to the queens of the ’50s West Coast cool jazz – Julie London, Anita O’Day, Chris Connor and June Christy, who embodied “West Coast Cool.” Woven into the program will be several selections from her recent critically-acclaimed recording release, Uncovered Soul, which is steeped in the jazz tradition but is augmented by the energy and intensity of soul – a fitting snapshot of the two-fold inspiration of Kosins’ prolific career.
